Alberton at a glance
Alberton is a unique town with a fascinating history. After the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902, the Alberton Estate Syndicate from Germiston approached the Meyer family to purchase land for the purpose of creating a town. The goal was to establish a community close enough to Johannesburg for work, yet far enough away to maintain a rural charm. In 1904, the land was sold for 20,000 pounds, leading to the founding of Alberton. By 1909, Alberton was officially recognized as a township.
Today, Alberton is a close-knit community where residents still look out for one another, fostering a strong sense of comfort and security. With well-maintained family homes in the suburbs and state-of-the-art properties in exclusive estates, Alberton caters to every type of homebuyer.
